3-Star LB To Make Return Trip to Pitt for Official Visit

With official visit season being less than two weeks away, Pitt got word of another recruit that will be making their way to Pittsburgh.

2026 three-star linebacker Adam Shaw (6’3″, 205-pounds) has announced that he’ll be visiting with Pitt from June 5-7. This decision comes shortly after receiving an offer from Ryan Manalac and Pitt last week.

An interesting development occurred in Shaw’s recruiting as he received an offer from Michigan State. Both of Shaw’s parents played at Michigan State. Adam’s fathers name is Scott and his mother’s maiden name is Angela DiJames, who was the MVP of Michigan State’s 1996 Field Hockey team.

Along with Pitt and Michigan State, the native of River Vale, New Jersey holds other offers from Rutgers, Old Dominion, UMass, Maine, James Madison, Georgetown, Fordham, Cornell, UConn and Bucknell.

“My recruiting process has been a lot different being I am primarily being recruited as a linebacker but with only very limited defensive film and mainly being based on my athleticism and quarterback film,” Shaw told Pittsburgh Sports Now.

“My communication with Coach Manalac and Coach Wilson started last year in May,” Shaw said. “It’s been really cool and exciting to talk with the coaches at Pitt. Coach Manalac has been in touch over the past year and has made in-school visits. Pitt was one of the first Power Four schools that showed interest in me and saw the linebacker potential in me.

“My decision to make an official visit to Pitt was pretty easy. I’ve been able to come to campus a few times. Once over the summer as my parents and I were passing through the area, for a Junior Day in the spring and again for a football game against California. It’s great for me to get this official visit scheduled and take my recruiting to the next level as I’ll be able to see more of their facilities and what Pitt has to offer.”

When it comes time to make a decision, Shaw is going to have a difficult decision to make as he has an opportunity to play for his hometown school, the school that his parents played for and a program like Pitt that he very much respects.

“It’s Pitt, there is a lot of tradition from a football perspective,” said Shaw. “A lot of great players have come out of there. Also, it’s a great school academically and a top ranked business school.

Shaw tells PSN that along with Pitt, he’s scheduled an official visit to Rutgers next weekend and is currently in discussions with Michigan State.
