Over the years, Pitt cornerbacks coach Archie Collins has made it a priority to recruit his alma mater Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Mich.

Pitt has benefited from that with the most recent example coming via a commitment from three-star outside linebacker Marcus Jennings.

A 2026 teammate of Jennings on the offensive side of the ball is now also highly considering Pitt.

Four-star offensive lineman Khalief Canty Jr. revealed his top three options in his recruitment with Pitt making the cut, alongside Missouri and Michigan State. Canty did state that his “recruitment is still 100% open.”

Canty has expressed plenty of interest in Pitt and told Pittsburgh Sports Now this spring that he is looking to visit the program. It will be interesting to see if Pitt can get him on campus in June for an official visit, but as of now, he has officials lined up with the other two top options at Michigan State (June 13) and Missouri (June 20).

Pitt offered the bruising offensive lineman over a year ago on March 23 of 2024 with offensive line coach Jeremy Darveau leading the way.

Back in November, Canty included Pitt in a loaded top 12 list with Alabama, Tennessee, Michigan, Texas A&M, Auburn, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas and Colorado.

The 6-foot-5, 305-pounder is rated as a four-star prospect by Rivals, the 201st player in the 2026 class, ninth interior offensive lineman and fourth-best recruit in the state of Michigan.

Canty was an anchor on the offensive line this past season as a junior for a Cass Tech team that went 12-2 and won its first Division I state championship since 2016. He earned First Team All-State honors for his play.
