Central Catholic Star LB Colsen Gatten Reveals Top 5

The 2025 Central Catholic High School football team is loaded with Power 4 talent, including star linebacker Colsen Gatten.
While other players on the roster might receive more headlines, when it comes to real interest from major programs, Gatten receives as much as anyone.
The difference being is that Gatten has kept his recruitment very quiet and isn’t really looking for attention. Problem with that is when you’re as talented as Gatten is, you’re going to receive it.
Currently, the 6-foot-2, 225-pound middle linebacker is a consensus 3-star recruit from all the national recruiting services and holds 25+ offers. Gatten’s list of Power 4 offers include Arizona, Boston College, California, Cincinnati, Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Pitt, SMU, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
Ryan Manalac and Pitt continue to pursue Gatten and would very much like to add him to their linebacker room and be the leader of the future “Sharks Unit.” Manalac made an in-home visit last week to spend time with Gatten and his family. Gatten and Manalac have built a solid relationship and is a big reason for his interest in Pitt.

Pitt isn’t the only program that wants to add Gatten, but who are the leaders?
As we approach official visit season, Gatten has started the process of narrowing down that long list of offers.
Gatten tells Pittsburgh Sports Now that after consideration and research, his Top 5 includes (in no order): Pitt, Indiana, Duke, West Virginia and Oklahoma.
The question now is which of these schools will separate themselves from each other following Gatten’s official visits?
Aside from Gatten, other current Power 4 prospects on Central Catholic’s roster includes: 2027 4-star offensive tackle Jimmy Kalis, 2026 3-star defensive end Ashton Blatt, 2027 offensive tackle James Halter, 2027 offensive lineman Jon Sassic and 2028 defensive back Chrys Black, Jr.
