Pitt FB Recruiting
To The Burgh: Pitt Official Visitor RB Damon Ferguson

To The Burgh is a Pittsburgh Sports Now series detailing each uncommitted 2026 prospect expected to be at Pitt for an official visit in June.
When Pitt football welcomes its first crop of official visitors on June 5, the group will be highlighted by several top targets, but none might be more important than running back Damon Ferguson out of Milford Mill Academy in Baltimore, Md.
Ferguson is a consensus Top 40 running back/athlete that Pitt has been pursuing hard over the past year. He initially picked up an offer from running backs coach Lindsey Lamar back in January of 2024. He has visited Pitt several times, including for the Backyard Brawl in September and a spring visit in March.
Lamar was then in to visit the 5-foot-11, 190-pound talent in early May.
“My dad likes Pitt for me a lot and after my mom finally had a chance to talk with coach Lamar, she found him as someone that she felt comfortable with guiding me in the next stage of life as a young man. I like Pitt, and me and coach Lamar have built a relationship that I believe is bigger than football,” Ferguson told PSN after the visit.
I appreciate @LindseyLamar5 for stopping by and spending time with me and my parents. @Pitt_FB 🙏🏾 Blessed. @WearemilfordFB @Coach_bjones44 @ReggieWhite90 @Coach_Trog @Coach_Hargis @Peeps_a_fool @rjackso10 @coachtae_7 @Coach_Coates32 @Coach_jayjay pic.twitter.com/SOXkZkx3bM

Along with Pitt’s official visit from June 5-7, Ferguson already took an official to Indiana and will visit Minnesota (May 30-June 1), Michigan State (June 16-18) and Virginia.

Stats: In nine games as a junior, Ferguson ran for 1,341 yards and 16 touchdowns on 105 carries. He added six receptions for 111 yards and one touchdown. On defense at cornerback, he notched 26 tackles, six pass breakups and three interceptions. According to his X account, he runs a 10.73 100-meter dash.
Status: In April, Ferguson narrowed his recruitment down from 40-plus Division I offers to 11 with Pitt, Virginia, Cincinnati, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke, NC State, Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota and Ohio State.
Since then, he has expressed that Pitt is a school amongst his top five choices and in large part due to the relationship with Lamar.
Nate’s Take: Pitt is in prime striking distance to land Ferguson. Sources have indicated that Ferguson is Pitt’s No. 1 running back target, and they are looking to make a strong move on him while he’s in town for his official visit.
While there are some other options on their board, Pitt cannot miss on Ferguson and are going to go to great lengths to land him. It will come down to the closing power that Lamar and offensive coordinator Kade Bell have in a 2026 class that is currently looking to add a running back.
I feel that Pitt is in a strong position to land Ferguson and the official visit could push it over the top. When it comes to his other top options, which are primarily his other official visits, Pitt should be able to out-recruit them but only time will tell.
