Top WPIAL Hoops Prospect Leaves League For Prep School

Another one of the top WPIAL players is on the move.
One of the WPIAL’s brightest young basketball stars has transferred out of the league. Brandon Martin Jr. of Greensburg Central Catholic told Pittsburgh Sports Now that he has transferred to The Phelps School in Chester County, Pennsylvania and has re-classified to the class of 2028.
“I’m a 6’6” combo guard, 15 years old,” Martin told PSN last year. “[I] can use both hands effectively, have a nice mid range game and play above the rim. On defense I am a pest, getting blocks off the backboard, blocking shots in general, getting steals, using my length. The thing that sticks out most about my game is my ability to play above the rim. There has been multiple times where I dunked on people.”
Martin received his first offer from Marshall last year. Martin visited Duquesne on Nov. 4, 2024 for its opening game against Lipscomb last season, too. Martin has also heard from Kent State, Youngstown State, and Akron, among other schools. His recruitment includes Division One programs from the region at the moment, and should expand into a national recruitment. He was initially a member of the class of 2027, and has also heard from West Virginia and Ohio State in his recruitment.

As always, if there are any players with current collegiate interest in the area that are missing from the board, please reach out to @michalowskicbb on Twitter. The goal of this board is to provide exposure for players in the area and to continue to grow the hoops scene in Western PA.
