Central Catholic Freshman QB Owen Herrick Receives 1st Power 4 Offer

It was a memorable weekend for Central Catholic freshman quarterback Owen Herrick. Not only did Herrick receive his first D-1 offer but that offer came from a Power 4 program.

Herrick made the trip up to Syracuse and was one of approximately 400 players to take part in a prospects camp. At the end of the day, the talented freshman received the news from Syracuse that he was hoping for.

“After the conclusion of camp, coach Mike Gillespie spoke with me and asked me to stick around after camp was over,” Herrick tells PSN. “I then met with Coach Nunz after and was able to receive an offer after an amazing conversation.”

“Coach Nunz told me that I looked great at camp and that he was very impressed with what he saw. He told me that they don’t give out quarterback offers lightly.

Considering his physical talent, the high school he attends, this offers from Syracuse could open the flood gates and be the start of a lot of schools extending an offer to Herrick.

“I’m just very blessed that the coaching staff saw my potential and believe in me and what I can do on the field. The offer meant that the extra hours and hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed. I wouldn’t be in this position without the constant support and encouragement of my teammates and coaches. They push me to be the absolute best version of myself that I can be day in and day out. The offer definitely reassures me that the hard work I have put in is translating onto the field.”

“It was a great moment for me and my family, and I am extremely grateful to be in a position to play the game I love at this high of a level in college football. I still have a lot of things to fine tune within my game and I’m excited to get back to work shortly.”

At the recent PA Prep Redzone Camp, Herrick came away as the overall MVP of the MVP displaying bigtime talent. The 6’2″, 185-pounder has terrific mechanics, has a strong arm and put touch on the ball.

Herrick tells PSN that Syracuse won’t be the only camp that he’ll be attending this summer and that he’s excited to be able to showcase his talent alongside other athletes in front of other college coaches, as well as receive advice from them.
