To The Burgh is a Pittsburgh Sports Now series detailing each uncommitted 2026 prospect expected to be at Pitt for an official visit in June.

Pitt is looking to build the trenches in its 2026 class and it will have the opportunity to do so with at least eight offensive line prospects expected to visit over the next three weeks.

One of those will be former Toledo commit Mike van der Oord out of St. Ignatius in Cleveland, Ohio, who will be on campus from June 5-7. van der Oord made a commitment to Toledo in November, but recently backed off his verbal pledge.

Pitt has been in contact with the three-star offensive tackle for over a year before Jeremy Daerveau and the Panthers extended an official offer in February.

Stats: van der Oord stands at 6-foot-7, 280 pounds and can line up at both right or left tackle. He was a key anchor for a St. Ignatius offensive line that helped lead the way to 171.8 rush yards per game. According to his Hudl page, he runs a 5-flat 40-yard dash.

Status: van der Oord holds Division I offers from Pitt, Wake Forest, Toledo, Marshall, Western Michigan, Miami (OH) and has received some interest from West Virginia. Pitt is his lone official visit.

Nate’s Take: van der Oord has had a rather quiet recruitment process. However, Pitt appears to have a leg up right now and could be a potential commit this weekend.

It all depends on where the Pitt staff sees him on their board. The staff could certainly be waiting on several other prospects to see where they fall.

Pitt recently saw two offensive line recruits come of their board with one specifically at offensive tackle in four-star and in-state talent Tyler Duell, who committed to Rutgers while on an official visit.
