Pine-Richland OL John Curran Receives Offer from Pitt

Published

on

Pine-Richland 2026 offensive lineman John Curran III has spent a lot of time on the South Side over the last two weekends and the way things are trending, he could be there a lot more.

After preforming well at Pitt’s prospects camp last weekend, Curran received an invite from the Pitt coaches to make an official visit this weekend.

Curran and 20+ other recruits started that visit on Thursday and this morning, the 6’3″, 295-pound guard got word from Pat Narduzzi that he’d earned a scholarship to Pitt. This becomes the first Power 4 offer for Curran.

This is a neat story and a reminder about perseverance and continuing to put in the work. Last weekend was the third consecutive year in which Curran attended the Pitt prospects camp with the hopes of earning a scholarship to his hometown team. The third time was the charm for Curran.

Following his junior season with Pine-Richland, Curran was selected as a 1st-team All-State guard. Aside from being a talented lineman, Curran is very accomplished in the weight room and one of the strongest, most physical players in the WPIAL.

Along with Pitt, Curran, who’s also a 4.0 student, has received offers from James Madison, Miami Ohio, Yale, Youngstown State, Bowling Green, Richmond, Albany, Dartmouth, Ohio U., Rhode Island, Central Michigan, Marshall, Old Dominion, Coastal Carolina, Akron, Cornell, Buffalo, Brown and Penn.

Pitt has a strong track record of receiving commitments following official visits and it would be very surprising if Curran leaves his visit without giving a commitment to Pitt.

Curran is one of 4 WPIAL standouts that are making Pitt official visits this weekend- Central Catholic 3-star linebacker Colsen Gatten, Peters Township 4-star edge rusher Reston Lehman and North Allegheny defensive tackle Lincoln Hoke.
