A journey full of hard work and determination has led to the ultimate goal for Pine-Richland offensive lineman John Curran III.

Curran — a 6-foot-3, 295-pound offensive lineman — camped at Pitt over the past two years and after his most recent performance just a week ago, he was extended the opportunity to take an official visit this weekend.

He then received an offer from Pitt and quickly turned around and committed to the hometown Panthers on Friday.

Pitt is building its hometown pipeline for the 2026 class as Curran becomes the second WPIAL commit in a matter of minutes, joining North Allegheny defensive tackle Lincoln Hoke.

Curran built a lengthy offer sheet from Mid-American schools and FCS programs, but it was ultimately his first Power Four offer that made the difference.

His additional offers included James Madison, Marshall, Buffalo, Akron, Miami (OH), Central Michigan, Ohio, Coastal Carolina, Bowling Green, Yale, Youngstown State, Albany, Dartmouth, Towson, Richmond, Penn, Brown, Cornell, Rhode Island, Stony Brook, Fordham, Old Dominion, Lafayette and New Hampshire.

Along with his recent camp trip, Curran made his way down to the South Side to check out spring ball back on April 1.

Curran was an anchor on Pine-Richland’s offensive line this past year as the Rams went on the win the WPIAL 5A championship at Acrisure Stadium. He went on to earn First Team All-State accolades.

Not only did Curran standout on the field, he is an impressive specimen in the weight room. According to his X account, Curran has put up 480 pounds on the bench press, 650-pound squat and 675-pound deadlift. He also posted a 5.19 40-yard dash.

Curran is the seventh commit of the 2026 Pitt class and fourth on offense: quarterback Angelo Renda and wide receivers Dylan Wester and Demetrice McCray.
