Pitt commit Reston Lehman

The Pitt football coaches just hit a grand slam by getting a commitment from a big-time talent.

Peters Township 4-star DE Reston Lehman became the biggest news of the weekend as he announced his commitment to Pitt. Lehman no doubt becomes the biggest name in Pitt’s Class of 2026.

Credit to the Pat Narduzzi and his staff because this commitment comes as a surprise to many people as recruiting analysts had Lehman headed to either Rutgers or Penn State. Instead, Lehman informs the Pitt staff at the conclusion of his official visit that he’s staying home. Lehman becomes the 3rd WPIAL player to commit to Pit this weekend, joining North Allegheny 3-star defensive tackle Lincoln Hoke and Pine-Richland offensive lineman John Curran III.

Over the last calendar year, Lehman (6’4″, 230-pounds) has watched his recruitment skyrocket has much as anyone in the state. When committing to Pitt, Lehman also held Power 4 offers from Penn State, West Virginia, Rutgers, Boston College, Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Purdue, Syracuse, UCLA, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.

This becomes the second consecutive year that Pitt lands a top 4-star WPIAL player with Aliquippa linebacker Cam Lindsey signing with the Panthers last year.

Over the last 24 hours, Pitt has been able to land talent from three of the WPIAL’s top football programs in Peters Township, Pine-Richland and North Allegheny. The next priority recruit for Pitt no doubt is Central Catholic 3-star linebacker Colsen Gatten.

Lehman becomes the 9th member of Pitt’s Class of 2026.
