Many of the recruits visiting Pitt football this weekend for official visits announced their intentions to do so over the past few weeks and months.

However, there are always several recruits that stay under the radar without making it known that they are taking an official visit.

One of the unknown prospects to make a trip out to Pittsburgh happens to be Maury High School (Virginia) linebacker Isaiah “Ike” Simmons and by Friday afternoon, he verbally committed to Pat Narduzzi and the Panthers.

Simmons, a top 25 linebacker in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports, officially announced his commitment on Saturday via X.

The 6-foot, 200-pound talent selected the Panthers over other offers from Michigan, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Syracuse, Duke, Georgia Tech and others. He has an official visit slated with the in-state Virginia Cavaliers for June 12.

Pitt was one of the latest Power Four schools to jump into Simmons’ recruit as linebackers coach Ryan Manalac and co. offered him while on an unofficial spring visit in March.

Simmons is considered a four-star prospect from the On3 Industry Ranking. He holds a three-star rating from all four recruiting services. 247Sports ranks him the highest as an 89 overall three star, the No. 25 linebacker in the cycle and 11th-best player out of Virginia.

During his junior season, Simmons shined at middle and outside linebacker for a Maury team that went 16-0 to become Virginia 5A state champions for the second year in a row. The Commodores’ defense shut out opponents on six separate occasions, including a 97-0 regular season win and 46-0 victory in the state championship. Simmons went on to be named First Team All-State.

Simmons joins three-star Marcus Jennings in Pitt’s 2026 linebacker class.
