Pitt FB Recruiting
John Curran’s Commitment to Pitt ‘Fulfills a Lifelong Dream’

Pitt football landing 10 commitments had many different layers to it as they landed 4-star recruits, a top priority recruit, a big-time linebacker and a few local players.
One of the three commitments from the WPIAL was offensive lineman John Curran III from Pine-Richland High School.
This past week for Curran is a period in his life that he’ll never forget. It started with him exceling at Pitt’s prospect camp last Sunday, which was followed by him receiving a opportunity to make an official visit to Pitt and it concluded with him making the quick decision to become a Panther.

If you think Curran is ecstatic with everything that’s transpired, you’d be 100% correct.
“This honestly means everything in the world to me. I’ve dreamed of playing at Pitt since I was a kid and this is exactly what I’ve been working for,” said Curran. “It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to play for Pitt and that dream has come true.”
Prior to last Sunday, Curran had a number of D-1 offers but none of the Power 4 variety, but that changed following his performance at Pitt’s camp. As you would expect, once he officially received the offer, it didn’t take long for Curran to let the Pitt coaches his intentions.
“The coaches told me that based on what they saw from my workout, they couldn’t pass up on offering me and that they wanted me in Pittsburgh. As soon as I got the news of the offer, I started thinking the whole time this is the offer I wanted and I’m going to go there. Pitt is close to home. I love the people and the staff at Pitt, the family culture within the Pitt football program and I just love everything about Pitt.”

“When I told Coach Narduzzi, I just said to him that this has been my dream and, on this visit, I saw how great of a fit that Pitt was for me. Honestly, Pitt is just an amazing fit for me, I told Coach that and he said that he was glad, he said that we want you here and want you in Pittsburgh.”
The other thing that made this weekend so special was the fact that Curran got to make this decision with two other players from the WPIAL. It’s a sign and a small example of how talented kids from Western Pennsylvania are filling to stay home.
“It was a great time bonding with them over the visit even though I’m used to them being my rivals on Friday night on the field,” said Curran. “It was great to spend time with them, and I learned that they’re amazing people. We all knew that committing to Pitt was the right decision and to stay home to play our college football.”
