The Pitt football program received some massive recruiting news on Saturday with the commitment of Georgia 4-star wide receiver Jaydon Dunbar and 4-star defensive end Reston Lehman from Peters Township High School.

These were two major wins for Pitt as they had to battle many Power 4 programs to land these two players.

Lehman is someone that Pat Narduzzi and his coaches have been fighting to land for two years and Friday night while at a dinner for recruits on the official visit and their families, he let everyone in the room know that he was becoming a Panther.

Since then, Lehman has been able to relax, enjoy the moment and now knows where he’ll be spending the next four years of his life.

“Last night, I got back home and got to hang out with friends and family last night which was a lot of fun,” Lehman tells Pittsburgh Sports Now. “I actually made my decision on Friday night and had fun with the players and coaches and got to hang out with them. Now that it’s all wrapped up, I feel a lot of weight off my shoulders.”

“It was just stressful trying to make the right decision. I was scared that I was going to make the wrong decision. This was the biggest decision that I’ve made in my life. So, it’s something that I took a lot of time to think about. It’s been really stressful the last few weeks as I’ve been trying to narrow the schools down, telling certain schools no. But in the end, I made the right choice.”

Lehman didn’t head into this official visit knowing that he was going to commit to Pitt but early on, he got the feeling that he wanted to stay home and commit to the Panthers.

“I had a meeting with Coach Narduzzi that morning at like 10 AM, said Lehman. “I didn’t commit in that meeting. I was between Pitt and Rutgers, and we talked about that. After that meeting I talked with my mom and dad and stepmom. I told them that I think that I want to commit to Pitt tonight. It felt like home, in that moment, I saw myself there and I wanted to stay home. That night at dinner, I told Coach Narduzzi first and then announced it to everyone at dinner.”

“Coach Narduzzi was pretty excited. I told him in private because I wanted to announce it to everyone at the same time. He was very pumped and had a big smile on his face. Coach Daoust was probably happier though. Lincoln Hoke started the dinner by announcing that he was committing, he grabbed the mic and announced his news, then I followed him and committed. Coach Daoust ran over to us and was pumped up.”

Lehman is no ordinary commitment for Pitt, as he’s one of the top players in the state with a world of potential. During a recruiting season, some players are priority recruits, which was certainly the case with Lehman and that made a difference to him.

“I did feel how important I was to Pitt,” said Lehman. “That’s kind of half the reason I committed and why I love them so much. You want to go where you’re wanted and that’s definitely Pitt. They have been consistently recruiting me for maybe two years now. I feel like going there, No. 1, it’s really what’s best for me and No. 2, it’s a step in the right direction for Pitt and them getting big recruits.”

“I cannot wait to put the uniform on play for Pitt. I can’t wait to get on campus. I know I’m going there in January and be an early enrollee. I can’t wait to get into the program and start developing.”
