Pitt All 105 is a Pittsburgh Sports Now series profiling each member of the Pitt 2025 training camp roster. In order to prepare for Pitt football’s 2025 season, PSN is breaking down every player on the roster in alphabetical order. Next up is linebacker Davin Brewton.

The recent track record of Pitt’s linebackers indicates that by the time players reach their second season within the program, they are primed to see the field with more of an impact.

That’s been the case for the likes of SirVocea Dennis, Brandon George, Kyle Louis, Rasheem Biles, Braylan Lovelace and more.

Redshirt freshman Davin Brewton is a player that is looking to make the same strides that some of his older teammates and those of the past did during their second season.

He saw the field briefly in 2024 before redshirting and now he will be chomping at the bit to make a strong impression in 2025.

“Brewton is getting better every day. He’s making major strides,” Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi said at the beginning of April.

2024 season: The 2024 campaign was Brewton’s first with the Pitt program as he preserved a redshirt.

Stats: Brewton saw action in one game last season against Youngstown State. According to Pro Football Focus, he played six snaps and recorded one tackle at middle linebacker.

Camp outlook: In his second year with the Pitt program, Brewton is looking to make strides as a reserve linebacker. He missed the last few practices in spring ball and did not play in the Blue-Gold Spring Game.

He will look to battle for a spot on the two-deep with the other younger linebackers in redshirt sophomore Jayden Bonsu, sophomore Jeremiah Marcelin and fellow redshirt freshman Cameron Lindsey, along with former walk-on and redshirt senior Nick Lapi

Projected role: As of now, Brewton is on the fringe of the two-deep roster. He is a player that can slot in at any of the linebacker spots, but the best shot for him to see the field would be at Money linebacker behind starter Rasheem Biles.

It’s still relatively early in his college career and he has plenty of potential. There’s a lot of room to grow and the way Ryan Manalac has developed his linebacker unit over the past few years, Brewton could since himself making an impact sooner rather than later.

A former three-star recruit coming out of high school, Brewton compiled an impressive state line in the fall of 2023 during his senior year at Red Bank Catholic of 132 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, three sacks, two force fumbles and two interceptions. He earned New Jersey Athletics Defensive Player of the Year for his performance.

At the time of his commitment, he selected Pitt over other offers from Syracuse, Maryland, Northwestern, Marshall and UMass.

A quote about Brewton: “Davin Brewton, he’s coming along,” linebacker Braylon Lovelace said. “He’s improved a lot since last year. We don’t look at any of them as younger guys anymore. They’re all ready to play their roles. They’re all ready to become sharks.”
