QB Angelo Renda Spent Pitt Visit Strengthening Bond, Recruiting Future Teammates

When most people think about college teams having their official visit weekends, the focus is always on the uncommitted players making visits.
These trips are also important for the players that have already given commitments as they’re able to visit their future home, strengthen their bond with coaches and future teammates as well as act as a recruiter.
That was the case over the weekend with Pitt 2026 3-star quarterback commit Angelo Renda.
”It was awesome,” Renda tells Pittsburgh Sports Now. “I got to spend more time with Coach Bell and Coach Duzz. Obviously, I’ve been committed for a couple of months now and I’ve built a a really good relationship with them. For me, the huge goal of this weekend was to try and get more guys on board and I feel as though we did a great job with that so I had a great time.”

Despite being already committed, Renda has only visited Pittsburgh twice so he’s still learning about the city and Pittsburgh.
“Yeah, I feel like every time I go up there, I learn a little bit more about the program and the history of Pittsburgh as a whole. I’ve learned a lot, so right now a lot of it is about building my relationships with the coaches and players. That’s my main goal right now.”
Another one of his goals was to put his recruiting hat on and try and get as many future teammates as possible. Considering the success Pitt had in landing 10 commitments, Renda might have a future in coaching.
“Coach Bell and Coach Bro (Bronowski) were texting me about trying to help us get some offensive guys, text them and get their numbers. The main thing that I was telling them about, especially the receivers and tight ends, was getting them to dive into Coach Bell’s offense. Told them it’s a great offense to play in, it’s explosive and if you’re a receiver you wanna be in this offense. It’s a pretty easy offense to recruit a player to.”

One of the players Renda spent time with was Georgia 4-star wide receiver Jaydon Dunbar, who eventually committed to Pitt. It goes without saying that Renda can’t wait to start throwing passes to him.
”Yeah, he’s a great player, I was excited when I heard he committed,” said Renda. “I was actually on the plane when Coach Bell’s told me he committed. During the visit, I talked to him in the meeting room when Coach Bell was going over offensive schemes and I could tell right then that he was interested. He’s a big, big recruit and is going to score a lot of touchdowns.”
Renda is back in Texas and will be working out with his teammates getting ready for the 2025 season. Renda tells me he has team workouts Monday thru Thursday starting at 6:30 AM.
“We’re lifting, running and then we’ll be doing a bit more football stuff in the coming months with the receivers. Right now, we’re just grinding in the weight room and hoping to win a state championship.”
