Vanderbilt Saw WPIAL TE Adam Gehm as a Priority, Leading to Commitment

Seneca Valley tight end Adam Gehm decided on his future home this week, and it’s an SEC school that formed the tightest connection during the recruiting process and viewed the three-star WPIAL talent as a key priority.
On Monday, Gehm announced his commitment to the Vanderbilt Commodores after taking an official visit with the program this past weekend.
“The reason I committed is because of the amazing opportunity to be a part of a great culture and community,” Gehmn told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “Coach Lea’s vision for the program is very clear and inspiring.”

The 6-foot-6, 230-pound Gehm owned other offers from West Virginia, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Maryland, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Wake Forest, Memphis, Navy and others.
Part of that opportunity that Gehm pointed to is the system that Vanderbilt boasts under offensive coordinator Tim Beck, and he finds it a perfect fit.
“The way Coach Beck uses the tight ends and builds the offense around them is very great to see along with almost living in the 12 personnel. It’s a great opportunity to get on the field. Vanderbilt has been where my strongest relationships have been and that had been my biggest factor in my recruitment, so it was an easy decision and a great opportunity to be a part of,” Gehm said.
Gehm made the trip down to Nashville, Tenn. this past weekend and was impressed by the overall atmosphere of the program.
“The big takeaways were the amazing people there who all have bought into the culture and have a common goal, and the vision the program has to turn things around and be successful is amazing and something I want to be there for,” Gehm said.

Vanderbilt initially offered Gehm in November of 2024. It was tight end coaches Jeff LePak and Brendan Flaherty that led the way in with the recruitment and made Gehm feel like a priority.
“Coach Flaherty and Coach LePak have been amazing through the process calling and communicating with me every week since they offered me in November emphasizing I am there No. 1 tight end. The first time I was down, they showed me the vision they had for me and how I can make a difference there, which was really beneficial to me and my decision,” Gehm said.
Gehm is looking forward to the type of future role that the Vanderbilt coaching staff has discussed with the tight end prospect.
“With Cole Spence being an upperclassman Y inline tight end, my role is very similar and to come in and match his play style as a blocker and pass catcher when he is gone,” he said. Coach Beck also emphasized building the offense around my skills as I grow as a player.”
On3 rates Gehm as a three-star recruit, the No. 44 tight end in the 2026 class and No. 26 player in Pennsylvania.
