Report: Aliquippa Star Josh Pratt to Transfer

Published

on

Aliquippa's 6-foot-1 point guard Josh Pratt has scheduled an official visit to Drexel for June 24-25 in just a couple of weeks.

It’s been an interesting last month in terms of the Aliquippa High School Boys basketball program.

It all started with the unexpected and controversial dismissal of boys’ head coach Nick Lakovich. Now comes word that they will be losing their best player.

Brad Everett of the Pittsburgh Union Progress is reporting that star guard Josh Pratt has made the decision to transfer to Lincoln Park High School. Everett also reports that Josh’s younger brother Jeremiah will be joining him.

Pratt actually started his high school career at Lincoln Park and transferred following his freshman season. During his freshman season, Pratt was part of that championship winning Lincoln Park team that included Brandin Cummings and Meleek Thomas. Cummings currently plays at Pitt while Thomas just signed with Arkansas.

Pratt’s older brother, LA, starred at Lincoln Park before signing with Elon and then transferring to Northeastern.

This is obviously a blow for Aliquippa because Pratt is one of the top talents in all of the WPIAL. Pratt currently holds D-1 offers from Hofstra, Pepperdine, Northeastern and Drexel, where he currently has an upcoming official visit to.

Pratt has won back-to-back player of the year awards (3A in 2023 and 2A in 2024). Last season, the 6’2″ guard averaged 22.2 points per game and has scored close to 1,200 points in his career.

Lincoln Park, which had won back-to-back PIAA championships, had a young team last season and finished with a record of 2-20.

The story now to watch is whether or not the WPIAL and PIAA will make Pratt eligible, which is always a tricky situation.
