Central Catholic Edge Ashton Blatt Commits to North Carolina

Central Catholic edge rusher Ashton Blatt had high interest in a handful of programs over the past few months, but a recent suitor caught his attention and he has now turned it into his future home.
Blatt — a 6-foot-4, 230-pound three-star talent — announced Saturday evening that he has committed to Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels.

It’s a big recruiting win in Western Pennsylvania for the Tar Heels that just extended an offer to Blatt on May 12. Blatt was in Chapel Hill, N.C. for his official visit this past week.
UNC beats out other official visitors in Wisconsin and in-state Penn State, along with other top teams in nearby Pitt, Virginia Tech, Duke, Indiana, Virginia and West Virginia.
Blatt is rated as a high three-star prospect by 247Sports, along with the No. 38 edge rusher in the class and 13th-best prospect in Pennsylvania.
As a junior, Blatt helped lead a Central Catholic team to a WPIAL Class 6A Championship and a state final appearance. He recorded 32 tackles (23 solo), 13 tackles for loss and a team-high seven sacks.

He becomes the second Central Catholic Viking to commit to an Atlantic Coast Conference team with three-star linebacker Colsen Gatten pledging to the Duke Blue Devils.
