2027 OL Colin Urrea Commits to Pitt: ‘ Pitt is a Tremendous Fit for Me’

While focusing on official visits and the Class of 2026, Pat Narduzzi and Pitt received a surprise commitment in the Class of 2027.
Interior offensive lineman Colin Urrea from Community School of Napes in Naples, Florida announced his commitment to Pitt while on an unofficial visit.
This is a homecoming of sorts for Urrea as he grew up in the Chartiers Valley area, while attending St. Thomas More Catholic School in Bethel Park before moving to Florida.
Urrea received his offer from Pitt back in March while on a visit and also held other offers from Louisville and Toledo.
Despite knowing that he will continue to get recruited and likely receive offers from other programs over the next couple of years, Urrea made the decision to end his recruitment and to commit to Pitt.

“This decision feels great,” Urrea tells Pittsburgh Sports Now. “Pitt definitely showed the most love to me ever since I started getting recruited by them during my freshman year. The coaches showed me a tremendous amount of love, have made me feel home since the first day of camp, made me feel wanted. I’ve learned that Pitt is a family program and that’s something I was looking for in a college. Pitt is a tremendous fit for me and I’m excited to be a Panther.”
“A couple of other things, Pittsburgh is home to me. Plus, Pitt’s history of development was another huge factor and the way they’ve always treated me.”
Urrea has made multiple visits to Pitt over the years and the structure of the program that Pat Narduzzi has established has always stood out to him.
“The way that Pitt does things, I’ve noticed how they’re a gritty and hardworking team. Every time I go in the weight room, I see ‘Iron Works’, it immediately strikes you that this is a team that’s serious about what they’re doing, and they mean business. They take their work serious, they’re prideful in themselves and what they’re trying to accomplish. I knew that’s a situation that really fits my style of playing football. That was huge.”
Urrea has always been leaning towards Pitt, but I was curious if he came to town this weekend knowing that he was going to make a commitment to Narduzzi and the Panthers?
“Coach Narduzzi called me and my family into his office and talks to us about the direction of Pitt over the next 4-5 years,” said Urrea. “Then I gave him a speech and told him why I picked Pitt over the other schools I had. He loved it and he said that he’d accept my commitment, and it went on from there.”
“I was pretty sure that this was going to happen (today) but wasn’t totally guaranteed. But after getting here, it felt right, and I felt good about it.”
Urrea becomes Pitt’s third commitment for the Class of 2027 and interestingly, all three are from the state of Florida- 4-star wide receiver Jacob Thomas (Pembroke Pines, Florida) and 3-star running back Tyler Reid (Miramar, Florida).
