Despite the ongoing efforts with 2026 recruits, including official visits that run through the end of June, Pitt coaches will bolster relationships with top targets on their board for the 2027 class.
With over 175 recruits in the 2027 class previously owning a Pitt offer, the Panthers can now start making serious inroads with those players.
Over the next 24 hours, high school football players will start to receive flyers and messages from the Pitt staff and Pittsburgh Sports Now will be monitoring which recruits are getting contacted and showcasing it on social media.
Pitt’s 2027 class got off and running back in March with a pair of commitments from Florida skill players that have only grown in status.
One of those is the brother of current Pitt running back Desmond Reid, Tyler. The younger Reid is a 5-foot-8, 165-pound running back out of Miramar High School. Once offered by Pitt, it was an easy decision for Reid to follow in the footsteps of his brother with the vision he sees in Kade Bell’s offense.
As recruiting rankings and stars have been handed out to 2027 prospects, Reid has risen the charts. 247Sports rates him as a high three-star prospect, the No. 21 running back in the class and No. 30 player out of Florida.
The other verbal pledge comes from a speedy wide receiver that has now received interest from all around the Power Four level and that is Jacob Thomas.
Thomas — a 5-foot-10, 160-pounder out of Flanagan High School — committed to Pitt on March 1. Since then, his recruitment has exploded with offers from Georgia, Miami, Florida State, Kentucky, Auburn, Missouri, UCF, West Virginia, Louisville, Boston College, Maryland, Indiana, Nebraska, Oregon State and others.
With programs around the country able to directly contact Thomas now, Pitt will be in for quite the battle to hold onto the coveted recruit.
On3 rates Thomas as a three-star prospect, the No. 280 player in the cycle, No. 38 wide receiver and 28th-best player out of Florida.
