Phil Steele Names Two Pitt Preseason All-Americans

It’s that time of the college football offseason where analysts and preview magazines start to reveal their projections for the upcoming season, including preseason All-Americans and conference honorees.
Phil Steele has released his preseason nominations in his 2025 College Football Preview magazine, which features two Pitt All-Americans and a handful of additional ACC recognition.
Linebacker Kyle Louis and running back Desmond Reid were both named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-America First Team
In 2024, Reid compiled 962 rushing yards, 579 receiving yards and 159 punt return yards, along with 10 total touchdowns in 2024. His 154.9 all-purpose yards per game were fifth-best in the country as he earned All-American Second-Team honors.
Reid has earned plenty of offseason buzz with ESPN ranking his as the No. 7 running back heading into 2025.
As for Louis, who became Pitt’s 100th First-Team All-American and first sophomore defensive player to earn the honor since Hugh Green in 1978, he put together a remarkable season in 2024 as he totaled 101 tackles (second-most on team), a team-high 15.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks and four interceptions.
The East Orange, N.J. native was a force all over the field and made impact play after impact play. PFF also named Louis as one of 10 linebacker names to know for the 2026 NFL Draft.
Steele also released his preseason All-ACC teams:
First-Team

Second-Team

LB Rasheem Biles
Third-Team

CB Rashad Battle
