Pitt All 105 is a Pittsburgh Sports Now series profiling each member of the Pitt 2025 training camp roster. In order to prepare for Pitt football’s 2025 season, PSN is breaking down every player on the roster in alphabetical order. Next up is running back Jaylin Brown.

Pitt was in contention to land running back Jaylin Brown in the summer prior to his senior year. However, he opted for Louisville, a school he stayed pledged to until late November when he decommitted.

Although Brown was committed to the Cardinals for several months, Pitt running back coach Lindsey Lamar maintained a strong relationship with the three-star talent.

Then on the morning of the early National Signing Day in December, Pitt received some surprising news as Brown committed to the Panthers and immediately signed with the program.

“He’s extremely excited. Even after he made his commitment a couple months ago, we still stayed in contact and he’s been playing very well. Once he found out that we we’re going to take him and he wanted to come, he was just as excited as we were,” Lamar said in December.

It was a nice addition to the 2025 recruiting class and now Brown has officially enrolled in June and will have an opportunity to get himself acclimated with the Pitt program.

Brown brings a layer of young talent to the Pitt running back room. He has a great burst, nice top-end speed and does a strong job fighting through contact.

Height: 5-foot-10
Weight: 190 pounds
Hometown: West Palm Beach, Fla.

Prior to Pitt: Brown was a standout running back at Cardinal Newman and during his senior season, he compiled 132 carries for 1,098 yards and a team-best 16 touchdowns. He also added 13 receptions for 166 yards (12.8 avg.) and a score.  As a junior, he rushed for 894 yards and eight touchdowns.

He selected Pitt over other offers from Louisville, Minnesota, Kentucky, N.C. State, Georgia Tech, Boston College and more.

Camp outlook: It will be the first camp for Brown as a college athlete, so it will be all about learning the Pitt offense and spending time in the weight room to get up to speed of a new level of football.

Projected role: Brown enters a running back room that boast returning starter Desmond Reid, along with Derrick Davis Jr., Juelz Goff and Justin Cook that will all be pushing for time.

He also joins another pair of freshmen Ja’Kyrian Turner and Synwkan Smith. Turner has the upper hand over Smith and Brown after enrolling early and standing out during spring camp.

For Brown, he’ll most likely redshirt unless he comes in and impresses and a path opens up for him to see the field. Regardless, he will be a solid developmental piece moving forward with a lot of promise.

A quote about Brown: “One of the things about him is his mom is Polynesian. They are all about family and that’s what that kid is about: family and hard work. Another kid that is versatile, a track guy. When me and coach Bell went down to West Palm Beach to see him, he had just finished a state track meet where he ran in the 100-meter finals and the next day he played in the spring game. He was there running around doing some good things and we knew that was a kid that would fit great here in what we do at Pitt,” Lamar said.
