Pitt Athletics Ranks Dead Last in ACC for 2024-25 Season

The 2024-25 college athletics year came to an end recently, and with that came the overall rankings of athletic departments.
So where did Pitt stack up among the other schools in the country for this past season?
On Thursday, the final Division I LEARFIELD College Directors’ Cup standings were released and Pitt found itself dead last in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Pitt finished No. 74 in the standings, which is comprised of a point system based on each institution’s finish in the NCAA Championships.

At the conclusion of the fall portion of Pitt’s season, the Panthers were ranked No. 24 in the standings with a third-place finish from women’s volleyball and a fifth-place finish from men’s soccer. Football place 53rd in the standings.
The winter portion saw both women’s swimming and men’s wrestling finish 27th and men’s swimming at 38th.
In the spring, Pitt did not place any teams in the championship picture, therefore receiving no points which dropped them to its final spot in the standings with 312 total points.
It’s the second straight year that Pitt finished last in the ACC in the Directors’ cup after finishing 80th for the 2023-24 season.
Pitt Athletics finished 52nd during the 2022-23 season and 73rd for the 2021-22 year.
Stanford (3), North Carolina (4), Duke (10), Virginia (12), North Carolina State (20), California (24) all finished within the top 25. The ACC is one of just two conference to have at least six program in the top 25.
