Pitt Star Olivia Babcock Receives ESPY Nomination

Pitt volleyball star Olivia Babcock could be receiving some more well-deserved national recognition.
Babcock was nominated along with three other finalists for an ESPY in the category of best college athlete in women’s sports. The 3 other finalists are USC basketball star JuJu Watkins, North Carolina soccer player Kate Faasse and Virginia swimmer Gretchen Walsh.
She becomes the first female athlete in Pitt history to be nominated for an ESPY.
This past season, Babcock led the Panther volleyball team to the NCAA semifinals and along the way won the AVCA National Player of the Year, the ACC Player of the Year and is a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year.
Babcock led Pitt by averaging 5.94 points per set, 4.72 kills per set and 1.82 digs per set.
During the 2024 season, Babcock placed her name in the Pitt record books by recording the most aces (in a season along with the most all-time.
The ESPYS will be hosted by comedian Shane Gillis from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on July 16th and will be televised on ABC.
