Pitt All 105 is a Pittsburgh Sports Now series profiling each member of the Pitt 2025 training camp roster. In order to prepare for Pitt football’s 2025 season, PSN is breaking down every player on the roster in alphabetical order. Next up is offensive lineman Torian Chester.

Since offensive line coach Jeremy Darveau joined the Pitt staff, he has been molding the Panthers’ offensive linemen into Kade Bell’s up-tempo offense.

Quick, nimble linemen that can keep the offense moving down field is what the Panthers are breeding. While there’s been plenty of work done in-house to convert linemen already on the roster, Darveau has been on the look out for high school prospects that match the play style.

Torian Chester is the type of young incoming freshman piece for Pitt to develop in the interior of the offensive line.

For Chester, it’s his speed and ability to make an impact in the run game that stands out.

“That’s the best thing that you’re gonna see on my film,” Chester said last summer before committing. “Yeah, I’m good at pass protection, but when it comes to my running game, I don’t play, I get off the ball, I don’t hitch, I go meet ’em.”

Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 325 pounds
Hometown: Albany, Ga.

Prior to Pitt: Chester was an important piece of Westover High School’s offensive line that helped pave the way for 35.5 points and 246.6 points per game as a senior. The Patriots compiled a record of 9-2 — the program’s first nine-win season since 2013. He earned Class 3A All-Conference honors.

Chester committed to the Panthers in June of 2024 after an official visit and he selected Pitt over offers from Buffalo, Colorado State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Liberty, South Alabama, Tulane and Wofford.

247Sports rated him as a three-star prospect, the No. 63 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 class and the 98th-best player out of Georgia.

According to his Hudl page, Chester runs a 5.3 40-yard dash, a 4.8 shuttle and can bench 335 pounds. Check out his senior tape here.

Camp outlook: Chester officially enrolled at Pitt in June. Since he did not enroll early and was not a spring camp participant, the fall will be all about learning the Pitt offense.

He’s one of three new freshmen offensive linemen that enrolled in the summer — Shep Turk and Jordan Fields are the other two — that will all most likely be working with the scout team and see some time with the 3s here and there.

Projected role: Entering camp, Chester has the ability to slide into any of the guard spots or potentially develop as a center. Pitt is rather thin at center with Lyndon Cooper and Ryan Carretta the only known Panthers currently on the roster that took snaps at center in the spring. It will be between Chester and Turk on who they move into the middle, but I see Chester more as a guard.

If that’s the case, Chester will be roughly the seventh-best guard on the depth chart, so seeing the field is very unlikely in 2025. Thus, a redshirt season is the expectation.

A quote about Chester: “Torian Chester a really talented offensive lineman from down in south Georgia. A lot of good offensive linemen come from that area and he’s probably one of the best. They run the ball down there just as good as anybody in the nation. It’s a lot of fun to watch his tape as well. His big thing is he’s a finisher. I love that. I love watching him dump guys over the pile and running his feet through contact,” Darveau said back in December.
