Despite making a strong effort, it appears as though Pitt will fall short in their pursuit of a talented defensive back from Georgia.

Today, 2026 3-star safety Tony Forney, Jr. from Kell High School in Marietta, Georgia gave a big update on his recruitment.

Forney announced that he will be making his college decision tomorrow and will selecting between Pitt, Georgia, Auburn, Wisconsin and Missouri. His order of official visits per Rivals/On3 Sports were — Missouri (May 30), Auburn (June 9), Wisconsin (June 12) and Pitt (June 20).

Some of his other Power Four offers include Duke, Arizona State, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt and West Virginia.

Forney has received 30+ offers, so credit Archie Collins for the job that he’s done in keeping Pitt in the race for this talented recruit. While, Rivals/On3 are forecasting that Forney will stay home and commit to Georgia. PSN believes Missouri could end up with Forney.

Rivals views Forney as a three-star prospect, the 18th player at the nickel position and 71st-best player out of Georgia in the class.

Forney is a defensive back that possesses great burst, a physical edge and has great ball tracking skills. In 12 games as a junior, Forney totaled 30 tackles (15 solo), three tackles for loss, a sacks, two interceptions, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery.
