The Pitt Panthers extended an offer to Ethan Mgbako, a 6-foot-6 prospect in the class of 2026 out of Oak Hill Academy.

The Pitt men’s basketball program continues their pursuit of a big-time talent in the Class of 2026.

On the heels of his official visit recently, Pitt was back out recruiting 4-star wing Ethan Mgbako from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia.

Mgbako has been competing in the DMVHoopsLive event with Nike/Team Melo and the Pitt staff was in attendance for every one of his games. Former Pitt star Bub Carrington also was a member of of the Team Melo AAU team.

Mgbako is clearly a player that Pitt HC Jeff Capel and Pitt GM Jay Kuntz are interested in and would like to add to their Class of 2026. The fact that Pitt was already able to get him on campus for an official visit last month is a positive development.

Currently, Mgbako (6’6″, 215-pounds) is ranked by 247 Sports as the No. 3 overall prospect in Virginia and the No. 91 overall player in the Class of 2026. Along with Pitt, Mgbako holds offers from Georgetown, Mississippi State, Creighton, LSU, West Virginia, Florida State, Texas A&M, etc.

Mgbako is from Somerset, New Jersey and played at Roselle Catholic High School for his freshman and sophomore seasons before transferring to Oak Hill Academy.

Because of his size and athleticism, Mgbako can get backs from driving into the paint, pulling up from mid-range and also connecting on shots from behind the 3-point arc.
