When Pitt meets West Virginia for the 108th Backyard Brawl in history this fall, it will be the last game in the current four-game series rebirth until 2029.

The Panthers are looking to win the current four-game stretch, while the Mountaineers look to pull even when the two collide at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, W.Va.

While the game is still two months away, the oddsmakers have released early odds on the game and it favors the Panthers.

Pitt is a 2.5-point favorite, according to both DraftKings and FanDuel. In addition, FanDuel has an early moneyline wager of -137 for Pitt and an over/under line at 57.5 points.

The last time these two programs met in Morgantown came in 2023 and was a defensive slugfest that West Virginia came out on top of with a 17-6 victory.

Pitt has won the other two meetings coming at Acrisure Stadium with a 38-31 win in 2022 that was sealed by a late-game M.J. Devonshire pick-six. Last season, quarterback Eli Holstein led a comeback in the fourth quarter for a 38-34 victory.

When the two programs meet in 2025, it will mark the return of former head coach Rich Rodriguez to the rivalry. His last game was the ’13-9′ game in 2007 as Pitt put an end to the Mountaineers’ National Championship chase and took down the No. 2 team in the country.

Pitt will travel to Morgantown for the Week 3 matchup against West Virginia on Sept. 13. The 108th edition of the Backyard Brawl will kick off at 3:30 p.m. from Milan Puskar Stadium and be televised on ESPN.
