2026 4-Star Recruit Decommits from Pitt

After being on a run of positive news, the Pitt football program received some bad recruiting news.
Texas 2026 4-star offensive lineman Day’jon Moore announced that he was flipping his commitment from Pitt to Maryland.
This afternoon, Moore released the following statement on Twitter.
“After much thought, prayer, and discussions with my family, I’ve decided to decommit from the University of Pittsburgh. I want to thank the Pitt staff and community for their belief in me and the love they showed. But I believe it’s the right step for my future and my education and athletic career is at the University of Maryland. 10000000% Committed.”
The native of Willis, Texas announced his commitment to Pitt back on June 15th after making official visits to both Pitt and Maryland. Moore (6’4″, 290-pounds) also held offers from Ohio State, Nebraska, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Baylor, Kansas and Arizona State.

On3 and ESPN rate Moore as a four-star recruit with the former listing him as the N0. 9 interior offensive lineman in the class, 28th recruit of Texas and 204th overall player in the class.
With the loss of Moore, Pitt now holds commitments from 3 offensive lineman in their Class of 2026-Â Â Pine-Richland interior lineman John Curran III and offensive tackles Mike van der Oord and Nick Howard.Â
Moore becomes the first decommitment for Pitt this recruiting season.
