Electric WPIAL WR Scoop Smith Commits to FBS School

Woodland Hills 2026 standout Scoop Smith is one of the most electrifying players in the entire WPIAL and now he will take his talents to a FBS program.

The 5-6, 150-pound Smith is one of the top athletes in Western Pennsylvania known for his blazing speed, escapability and big-play moments. He’s made an on-field impact at receiver and kick returner. As a junior, he caught 38 passes for 630 yards, along with 27 carries for 352 yards on the ground as he totaled 15 touchdowns.
While teams were looking at him early for basketball, his football recruitment then picked up in between his freshman and junior seasons. His first offer came from Nebraska. The rest of his offer sheet consisted of Temple, Akron, Ohio, Eastern Michigan, Toledo, Buffalo, Bowling Green, Miami (OH), Kent State, UNLV, Sacramento State, Delaware State, Lafayette, Towson, Youngstown State, Robert Morris, UMass and Hampton.

His three-sport versatility earned him the Post-Gazette’s Boys Athlete of the Year. On the hardwood, Smith averaged 17.7 points per game and earned All-Section honors. In the spring, he displayed his speed by winning the WPIAL Class 3A 100-meter championship for the second year in a row with a time of 10.72 seconds.
Smith becomes the second WPIAL prospect in three days to commit to Miami (Ohio). Washington wide receiver Tristan Reed announced his commitment to the Redhawks on the Fourth of July.
Miami (Ohio) is coming off a relatively successful season with a 9-5 overall record and a 7-1 mark in Mid-American Conference play as the Redhawks reach the conference title game. They would go on to defeat Colorado State in the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl, 43-17.
