Ask a Pitt fan what their favorite win of the last few seasons has been and there’s a good chance they’ll tell you “42-39“, aka the score of the first game of the renewed Pitt-Penn State rivalry and the first game between the two schools in 15 years.

After jumping out to a big lead, the Panthers were forced to hold on as Penn State—who were unranked and perhaps under the radar at the time—mounted a furious comeback. However, Ryan Lewis picked off Trace McSorley in the end zone—which came just moments after he overthrew a wide open DaeSean Hamilton in what would have been an easy touchdown—to seal the victory.
