James Conner’s first game back from cancer. The Panthers, even with a limited playbook offensive playbook–in preparation for Penn State the following week–made short work of D2 Villanova. Conner finished with 53 yards rushing on 17 carries and added a touchdown. Other highlights included Quadree Henderson’s 96 yard kickoff return for a touchdown and stout Pitt defense that allowed only 172 total yards.
