If there’s such a thing as a trap game, tonight was it for the Pitt Panthers.

First, Pitt was coming off an emotional win over Syracuse. Second, after it being talked about for most of the second half of the season, the Panthers finally entered the AP Top 25 rankings. The scary part was that with a chance to win at least a share of the ACC Championship, Pitt was taking on a Notre Dame team that entered tonight’s game with a record of 10-19 and 2-16 in conference.

Easy win, right? Wrong. All of the factors above didn’t take into account tonight being Mike Brey’s last home game as head coach for the Irish.

The trap game proved accurate as Notre Dame couldn’t miss from the field and Pitt couldn’t hit a 3-pointer, couldn’t make a free and didn’t play defense.

The bad news is that Pitt lost but they still have a chance to share the ACC Championship if they can beat Miami on Saturday.

Despite that, as you can imagine, Pitt fans weren’t happy with tonight’s outcome.
