Duquesne Athletics Celebrates Student-Athletes In Second Annual Awards Ceremony
Male Student Athlete of the Year Michael Dorundo Football
Dorundo set a school record with his 38 consecutive starts to end his Duquesne career. His steady play and intensity in the trenches helped the Dukes ground game tally 100 yards rushing in 2023, three of which surpassed 200 yards. Dorundo is a two-time All-Northeast Conference Second Team honoree and helped the Dukes win the 2023 NEC title, earning an automatic berth into the FCS Playoffs.
Duquesne finished 7-5 overall and 6-1 in the NEC.
Dorundo is a finance major who will graduate with a 3.68 GPA. Also among his accolades are being a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection while interning with BNY Mellon and Highmark Health.
The Gibsonia native also has volunteered at the South Side Clean Up Event and Refugee for Women in South Side.
