Pitt VB Secured Share of ACC Title With Win vs. Louisville

It’s always nice to beat Louisville, but it’s even sweeter when the Pitt Panthers sweep the Cardinals in the regular season.
No. 1 Pitt (28-1, 18-1 ACC) knocked off No. 3 Louisville in four sets (25-23, 18-25, 25-20, 25-16) Wednesday night at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, securing a second win against the Cardinals this season and a share of the ACC championship for the third season in a row — the sixth in program history.
It was a strong-hitting affair between the Panthers and Cardinals (.310 to .289), but the Panthers recorded more kills and fewer errors on the way to a decisive victory.

Olivia Babcock, coming off a national Player of the Week honor, racked up a match-high 23 kills (.311 hitting percentage), adding four blocks, five digs and two service aces.
Torrey Stafford and Bre Kelley both hit above .400, combining for 25 kills, seven blocks and 13 digs. Rachel Fairbanks recorded a match-high 47 assists, once again serving as a maestro in the middle — adding two service aces and nine digs.
Pitt is led by its three national Player of the Year candidates in Babcock, Stafford and Fairbanks, all of whom have shined throughout a dominant season in which the Panthers have been the best team in the country.
Pitt has been ranked No. 1 in the country for almost three months, and it’s come as the Panthers have staved off top-ranked opponents the entire way.
The Panthers can secure the outright title with a win against Georgia Tech on Sat. Nov. 30 at 1 p.m. at the Fitzgerald Field House.
