National Media Acknowledges Pitt Basketball After Win Over No. 21 Virginia

Pitt’s win over No. 21 Virginia on Tuesday night caught the eyes of many basketball personalities all over the country.

The Panthers came into Charlottesville as 6-point underdogs and came out as 11-point victors, winning 74-63 behind 27 points from senior leader Blake Hinson, 13 from Ishmael Leggett, and 12 from Jaland Lowe. Bub Carrington had nine points, eight rebounds, and six assists in the win. As a team, Pitt dished out 14 assists and only turned the ball over eight times.

This performance from the Panthers — earning the first win by a road team in Virginia’s John Paul Jones Arena in 23 games — caught the attention from many of the game’s national reporters, most of which gave props to Pitt for its four-game winning streak and its NCAA Tournament chances.
