Next month, Jeff Capel and the Pitt men’s basketball program will reportedly be receiving a visit from a big-time guard.

Dushawn London from 247 Sports is reporting that 2026 4-star shooting guard Jermal Jones Jr. has set two official visits for the month of September- Pitt and California. According to London, Jones will be at California from September 12-14 followed by a trip to Pittsburgh from September 26-28.

Jones, who attends IMG Academy and plays for the AAU program, the Florida Rebels, is ranked by Rivals.com has the No. 55 overall player in the Class of 2026. This summer in EYBL action, Jones is averaging 18 points per game and shooting 42% from 3-point range.

Along with Pitt and California, the 6’4″, 180-pound, 3-level scorer also holds offers from Cincinnati, Clemson, Florida State, Mississippi State, Purdue, Washington and West Virginia.

The Pitt coaching staff first extended Jones and offer back on July 17th.

You can’t help but think that Pitt’s immediate success developing and getting Bub Carrington selected in the first round of the NBA Draft is getting some of these elite to consider Jeff Capel’s program. If you look at his game, Jones has plenty of on-court similarities to Carrington.

Last week, London reported that 2026 4-star shooting guard Harris Reynolds (Atlanta, Georgia) is looking to make an upcoming visit to Pitt.

Pitt is also involved with 2026 4-star point guard Neiko Mundey (Landover, Maryland) and 2026 4-star shooting guard Ethan Magbako (Oak Hill Academy in Virginia).

Magbako recently made an official visit, while Mundey will be making his official visit at the end of the month (August 30th).
