The Pitt football recruiting class for 2027 is getting off to a nice start.

The first commitment came from Florida 4-star wide receiver Jacob Thomas, and he’s turned into a national recruit. Since committing to Pitt, Thomas has received Power 4 offers from Florida State, Miami, Louisville, Kentucky, Central Florida, Missouri, West Virginia, Auburn, Purdue and Ole Miss.

Pitt now has a second 4-star recruit for 2027.

Last night, Miami running back Tyler Reid received a recruiting bump from On3 Sports and was elevated to a 4-star recruit.

Reid gave his commitment to Pitt back on March 6th and surprisingly Pitt remains his only Power 4 offer. Considering he’s only a junior and with this new 4-star status, that will likely change soon.

Considering the Reid’s families to the Pitt program, even when Tyler starts receiving major Power 4 interest, that shouldn’t be a problem for Pitt.

Reid and his family attended every Pitt home game in the fall of 2024 to watch his brother, Desmond, star in the Pitt offense and turn into an All-American. During his junior season at Pitt, the older Reid compiled 962 rushing yards, 579 receiving yards and 159 punt return yards, along with 10 touchdowns. His 154.9 all-purpose yards per game was fifth-best in the country as he earned All-American Second-Team honors.

As a sophomore at Miramar High School, Tyler carried the ball 122 times for 872 yards and six touchdowns.
