Weeks after winning its court battle to remain in Class 4A, Aliquippa learned its updated schedule on Tuesday.
The WPIAL updated the Quips slate with them returning to the Parkway Conference, which includes Ambridge, Blackhawk, Montour, New Castle and West Allegheny.
Aliquippa will now start its season with a heavyweight bout against back-to-back WPIAL and PIAA 3A champion Belle Vernon, who will now also reside in Class 4A.
Additional updated games include Week 2 at Avonworth, a Week 5 matchup against New Castle and a Week 6 battle with West Allegheny.
The Quips will then close out the season against Blackhawk, Montour and Ambridge.
Two matchups that will remain for the Quips are its Week 3 and 4 contests against Mars and Penn Hills, respectively.
Aliquippa returns to Class 4A after winning its legal battle with the PIAA as the Quips were intended to moved up to 5A based on the state’s competitive-balance rule, which examines teams that had success is state playoffs and added three or more transfers in a two-year span.
The competitive-balance rule already bumped Aliquippa up from Class 3A in 2020 and the Quips have dominated to 4A classification, winning three consecutive WPIAL titles and claimining state championships in 2021 and 2023z
