WHAT COACH HAS SAID HEADING INTO THIS SEASON
“More confident. Obviously, maturity. He’s played in big games, he’s played very well in big games. There’s more, I would say, ownership from him. I think he understands his status on his team. I shouldn’t say he understands it, but he’s more comfortable with his status on our team and the importance. I thought he was very comfortable with it last year, especially as we got into late February and early March. But I would say those things. I just think, usually, when you have experienced college basketball, you’re normally a little more comfortable going into your next year.
Pitt basketball guard Jaland Lowe is heading into his sophomore season. The guard is from Missouri City, Texas.
“He’s finding his voice as a leader. That’s something that he didn’t necessarily have to do last year because of Blake. But now, with what we’ve lost, I think he understands. That’s what I meant when I was saying understanding his role, understanding his importance, all of those things on this basketball team. Being more comfortable speaking. He knows what we want as a coaching staff, what I want. I think he also knows what’s needed to be a good team. So, certainly, finding his voice as a leader and being more confident to use his voice.”
