Pitt to Host 2019 NCAA Wrestling Championships

Pitt is back in the news for wrestling.

Just a week after the Pitt Wrestling program hired Keith Gavin as its new head coach, it was was announced that the University of Pittsburgh has been chosen to host the 2019 NCAA Wrestling Championships.

Pitt, in conjunction with VisitPITTSBURGH will host the three-day event, which will take place at PPG Paints Arena, March 21st through the 23rd.

In a statement released by the University, Athletics Director Heather Lyke welcomed the opportunity and praised the city and PPG Paints Arena:

“It is a tremendous honor for the city of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh to be chosen as hosts of the 2019 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. Pittsburgh and PPG Paints Arena have all the amenities to host a first-class championship featuring world-class competitors. We are proud to be the host institution for the event and look forward to an amazing turnout from the passionate wrestling fans in this region.”
