On Wednesday, Dru Joyce III landed the first commitment of his tenure as head coach of the Duquesne Dukes.

Cam Crawford, a 6-foot-5 guard transfer out of Marshall, committed to the Dukes on Wednesday night. This past year, as a sophomore, Crawford averaged 8.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. He shot 37% from the field and 32% from three-point range. He scored in double digits nine times throughout the season, including a 23-point outburst against South Alabama in which he hit 10 of his 12 attempts from the field. Crawford also had a huge game against Duquesne this past season, scoring 20 points on 9-for-18 shooting. He grabbed three boards and dished out two assists in Marshall’s 85-72 loss to the Dukes.

He joins the Dukes as Joyce’s first career commitment as a head coach. This past season, Duquesne won its first NCAA Tournament game in over 50 years this season, defeating BYU in a first round upset. The Dukes were led by Dae Dae Grant and Jimmy Clark III, who have now moved onto professional careers.
