Pitt Offers Florida Defensive Lineman Latrell Jean

Latrell Jean has been expecting an offer from Pitt, and today he received one from head coach Pat Narduzzi.

Jean (6-3, 250) is a 2019 3-star defensive lineman from Lakeland, Florida and is former teammates with current Pitt players running back A.J. Davis and cornerback Damarri Mathis.

This is an interesting offer in the fact that Pitt already has 2019 commitments from four defensive ends. By the fact that Narduzzi is still recruiting a defensive end, that is an indication that one of the players that has already committed probably isn’t staying at defensive end.

Following the news that he received the offer from Pitt, Pittsburgh Sports Now spoke to Jean to get his immediate thoughts and to get more information about this recruitment.

“I’ve been in contact with Pitt since last season and I’ve been talking with Coach Salem so we’ve been talking for quite a while,” Jean said.

“I received the official offer from Coach Narduzzi, he texted me and said he wants me to become a Pitt Panther. I was really happy when I got the offer because I was expecting it. I thought I would be getting the offer last season, maybe mid-season but I’m happy I got it. Pitt is a great school that plays in the ACC, they have a lot of good things going on right now.”

Jean is a talented athlete that’s strength is getting to the opposing quarterback. He’s able to play multiple positions so I asked him what position is Pitt recruiting him for.

“They believe I can play inside or outside so they’re recruiting me at defensive line in general,” said Jean. “I can play anywhere on the defensive line so it might depend on the defensive scheme they’re running. The strength of my game is my pass-rush and my first step. I work really hard so if I go to Pitt, they’re going to be getting a really hard working player.”

Right now, Jean holds offers from Indiana, South Carolina, Kentucky, Purdue, Syracuse and Tennessee and says that Indiana is high on his list. However, he also says that he’s interested in Pitt and has already decided he will make an official visit there this fall.
