PITTSBURGH — Coming off of a two-game conference losing streak, Pitt will be without key reserve Ryan Murphy on Sunday against Miami.
Pitt announced at 11:04 on Twitter that Murphy had suffered a concussion at practice on Thursday and will not be available against the Hurricanes.
The 6-foot-2 sharpshooter has made 10-of-22 attempts from the 3-point line in his last five games. He’s averaging 10.1 points per game this season and shooting 35.6 percent from three.
Perhaps freshman wing Gerald Drumgoole will attempt to pick up the slack off Pitt’s bench on Sunday. But this news puts more pressure on the Panthers’ usual starters to be more aggressive on the offensive end.
The Hurricanes are without leading scorer Chris Lykes [15.7 points per game], as he has been sidelined from injury for the past three games. Miami has won seven consecutive games against Pitt.
Tip-off is at noon at the Petersen Events Center.
