Pitt head coach Lance White added a potential big piece to his 2020-21 roster.

The Pitt women’s basketball team found out today from the NCAA that guard Jayla Everett was granted immediate eligibility for the upcoming season. Everett transferred to Pitt over the off-season from New Mexico.

Everett will have two years of eligibility with Pitt after starting 48 of 50 games for New Mexico. Everett was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year after averaging 13.5 points, 3.7 assists, 3.5 rebounds per game.

“I am thrilled that the NCAA has granted Jayla’s waiver to play for us immediately this season,” said White. “Her experience and playmaking abilities will really help us. She is an explosive player on both ends of the court who loves to compete and I can’t wait to see her immediate impact on our team.”

In 50 career games for New Mexico, Everett scored 635 points, 179 assists, 167 rebounds and 68 steals.
