Pitt football’s latest commitment comes from one of the top programs in the state of Florida.

Wide receiver Camden Brown (6-foot-3, 195 pounds) from St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale left his official visit this weekend by giving a commitment to Pat Narduzzi and the Panthers.

Brown chose Pitt over other offers from Auburn, Cincinnati, Indiana, Kentucky, Memphis, Ole Miss, Syracuse and Virginia.

Sunday is a day that Brown and his family have been working for since he was a little boy growing up in Louisiana before moving to Florida.

“This whole process has been a real roller coaster but it been great because of all the times I was sure if I could do it and for all the doubters of me,” Brown told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “For my mom, my dad and my trainers this also means a lot because we’ve all worked hard for this. My mom was really happy for me because I’m from Louisiana and growing up down there it really hard. Every time I step foot on a football field, I was doubted. Then when I moved to Florida, then said I wouldn’t be anything there and wouldn’t make it. But I’m excited and proud because going there, I was able to open a lot of peoples eyes. My dad was excited too because every morning, we’d wake up at 5 o’clock and work in the garage. This is a huge moment for my whole family.”

Prior to the visit, Brown told PSN that he planned on making official visits to Ole Miss and Auburn later on in the football season but that’s now canceled following what he saw and heard from his visit to Pittsburgh.

“What really stood out to me was how everyone in the Pitt program is always together,” he said. “I asked a bunch of players about this and they told me that it’s not fake love, that the players and coaches really love and care for each other. This Pitt program has real love in it.

“I committed to Coach Narduzziz We were all together doing a presentation and I walked over to him and he said ‘Are you ready to be a Panther?’ and I said ‘Yeah, I’m ready to be a Panther.’ He thought I was joking around at first and I told him that I was serious, I’m dead serious.”

Brown becomes the eighth member of Pitt’s Class of 2022 and the third offensive player (WR Addison Copeland and RB Jordaan Bailey). Copeland and Brown are bringing size to the Pitt wide receivers group as both players are 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds.
