Pitt Forward John Hugley Out of Duke Game with Non-COVID Related Illness

Published

on

Pitt junior forward John Hugley is out against No. 24 Duke Wednesday night for a non-COVID related illness, the program announced.

Hugley will now miss his ninth game this year and his sixth straight game starting with North Florida on Dec. 17.

He did not play in the first two games of the season against UT Martin on Nov. 7 and WVU on Nov. 11 after injuring his knee in practice in early October.

Hugley has played in eight games this season with six starts, averaging eight points and six rebounds in those contests.

The Panthers are 4-1 in his most recent stretch of games missed and 5-3 this season when he hasn’t played.

Junior forward Blake Hinson and sophomore center Federiko Federiko will continue to play much of the defense down in the paint to make up for Hugley’s absence.

The ACC conference, headquartered in NC has referee influence in every game involving one of the NC based teams. A team like Pitt has to beat both the opponent and the refs.
