There’s always a lot of talking about Pitt needing to get commitments from good local talent, but the reality is that it’s impossible to land everyone. If you’re able to get more than 50% of local prospects, I’d consider that a win. In the end, I have 100% confidence that Pat Narduzzi will do that.

In the last year, Pitt has been able to land local stars such as Jordan Whitehead, Paris Ford, Damar Hamlin and Kaezon Pugh. That’s big-time talent. And I believe they’ll be adding 2 big names to that group.

I have no inside knowledge on this, so it’s just a gut feeling, but I believe that Pitt will eventually land both Lamont Wade and Donovan Jeter. Add those names to the previously mentioned players and that’s a pretty good job of local recruiting.

How about a 2017 defense of Wade, Hamlin, Ford, Whitehead, Jeter and Pugh. Wow.

UPDATE (11:06 AM)-
** It appears as though Kevin Stallings is in the mix for another top prospect. Top 150 prospect Keyshawn Feazell lists Pitt as one of his 5 finalists. Feazell is a 6-8 forward from Monticello, Mississippi. Feazell’s Top 5 consists of Pitt, Alabama, Mississippi State, Iowa State and Baylor.

UPDATE (12:57 PM)-
** Yesterday, Pitt hosted elite cornerback recruit Lamont Wade at their first prospect. Today, they hosted another recruit, this one has already committed to them. Wide receiver Darian Street was in town and at practice today.

UPDATE (1:51 PM)-
** Pat Narduzzi announced a position change after practice today, Mike Herndon is moving from offensive line back to defensive tackle. When recruited to Pitt from Virginia, Herndon was a defensive lineman.

** Narduzzi also praised freshman defensive backs Damar Hamlin and Bricen Garner for their knowledge and picking up the defensive system.

** Interesting quote from Pat Narduzzi in his post-practice press conference talking about James Conner. “We want to be versatile. Maybe James Conner will play some defensive end. We’ve talked about a lot of things..”
