This isn’t the kind of news that we want to report on. However, it’s big enough that we have to. A former WPIAL star is in trouble with the law which leaves his college football career in doubt.

According to WWMT.com in Michigan, former Central Catholic star and Western Michigan freshman linebacker Ron George was arrested last night. WWMT.com is reporting that George and a teammate, wide receiver Bryson White, are in police custody after allegedly holding up a woman with a semi-automatic weapon and a knife. This alleged incident took place at an off-campus apartment complex.

The report says that the university has acknowledged that both players were arrested overnight in a car on campus with weapons and stolen money, Western Michigan head coach P.J. Fleck has immediately suspended both players indefinitely per further investigation.

“The students will be held accountable to all University student-code, Athletic-student athlete and Football Code of conduct standards. Violations of these standards can lead to dismissal from the team and University,” said Fleck.

WWMT.com has acquired jail records which confirm that both players are in custody of the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.
