Saturday morning, ESPN’s College GameDay featured a special on James Conner’s battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
The video begins by showing Pitt’s 2014 All-American in a hospital room, receiving chemotherapy treatment and vomiting into a waste bag: images that should remind fans just how incredible Conner’s performances were in the past two games.
Conner’s mother and head coach Pat Narduzzi also appear, providing insight into how Conner’s MCL tear in last season’s opener served as a “blessing in disguise.” While rehabilitating his knee, head coach Pat Narduzzi noticed a decline in James’ general wellness, which led to the medical examination that revealed his cancer diagnosis.
